Spartanburg, the largest city in the South Carolina, United States, is situated 98 miles northwest of Columbia and 80 miles west of Charlotte. The census of 2000 recorded the population of Spartanburg as consisting of 39,673 inhabitants. The city has a total area of 19.2 square miles.
Many events are arranged annually in Spartanburg, of particular significance among these is the International Festival showcasing the culture and cuisine from all over the world. The Great Festival is organized by the local Greek community displaying the Greek culture. The Annual Sideswalk Art Show, an art exhibition, Dickens of Christmas, Spring Fling, Jamboread Reading Festival are famous events. Spartanburg Bands Together and Music on Main are the major music festivals.
