Information about Pacoima:

Andraé Edward Crouch was born on July 1st, in 1942 in the Los Angeles. He was the son of Benjamin Jerome as well Catherine Dorothea Crouch. Andrae is one of the most greatly admired numbers within current modern gospel songs as well as current Christian melody. ‘Andrae is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, musical arranger and recording artist, all rolled into one creative genius’ says the Cousin of jazz critic Stanley Crouch. Crouch visited church with his parents at a very early age. There he became gospel to music. The weather there was also very moderate and enjoyable.

At a very early age, he had formed a trio with his cousin sister Sandra and his elder brother Benjamin. After this, André and his parents moved to Surburb which is a small place of Pacoima near the San Fernando Valley. Music helped crouch to a great extent to get over his shyness and new teenage feelings. Music also helped him get over his slight stammering impediment. Around 1956, crouch began to write songs. This became very special for him and he started doing this work on daily basis. In those times, bus services were the only mode of transportation. Andre also considered travelling on bus a better option. Thus, bus was very prevalent.

Around 1960, when crouch was in his high school he had formed his first group named as the Church of God in Christ Singers (COGICS). In this band, a person named Billy Preston was the vocalist. This person later became the organist of a very famous English band called the ‘Beatles’. In between the sixties, crouch had formed another band of his own named the Disciples. He had also released a number of famous albums over the gospel Light label platform. Crouch also played a very important role in the development of the Jesus Movement along the western coast in the United States.  He also inspired and encouraged the general public by releasing a lot of inspirational, motivating and religious songs.
