Information about John Wayne Airport:

Originally named Orange County Airport due to its location in Orange Country, California, the name was later changed in 1979 in honor of the famous Hollywood actor John Wayne who lived and died in the neighboring city of Newport Beach. There is also a statue of John Wayne at the main entrance gate of the airport. Being the only commercial airport in all of Orange County, many people tend to prefer going on bus routes to their destination rather than taking a bus to the airport and then catching a flight, which also saves them from the hassle of maneuvering inside this very bus airport. However, The John Wayne airport has one of the smallest runways in all of United States and therefore does not have many big passenger planes flying to and fro from it, with the biggest usual aircraft being the Boeing 767. However, this does not prevent almost all of America's major airline companies from operating at the airport.

The John Wayne Airport is scheduled for expansion with the increase of the runway and the addition of gates having already been approved by the Orange County officials. The airport is subject to noise control as the surrounding noise sensitive area is affected by the usual loud noises. The airport has kept a decent distance away from controversy and disaster and has only experienced to crashes related to it in more than a quarter of a century.

The John Wayne Airport in itself is a big tourist attraction, with many visitors taking a bus trip down to the airport in order to explore the airport that is most frequently related to the making of Hollywood movies and other popular culture ties, with many scenes from movies such as Jerry Maguire, Gleaming The Cube and 8 Heads In A Duffel Bag to name a few having been shot in this airport.
